Tang Wei was catapulted to stardom in 2007 by her
role in the film 'Lust, Caution'. However, this rise was
quickly followed by adversity when the Chinese film
authorities judged parts of the movie to be too
'adult'. Tang Wei was shunned by the mainland film
industry and was dropped by sponsors.

Tang Wei moved to Hong Kong where she was granted
citizenship in 2008 and kept a low profile, while still
working on perfecting her craft. During this time she
also visited the UK and studied drama at Reading
University.
